PACJA and MPIDO seek to convene the FCPF Capacity Building Programme on REDD+ Project Completion workshop for Forest-dependent Indigenous Peoples and Southern CSOs in the African Region in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia on 22nd-24th May 2018.
The current phase of the FCPF Capacity Building Program on REDD+ Project is set to come to an end on June 30th 2018 while ushering in a project extension period that will run until December 2019. This therefore calls for an assessment of the entire project implementation with an aim of sharing the overall achievements of the project objectives and identifying key challenges and successes. The Completion workshop will therefore seek to review phase two implementation, facilitate learning and sharing experiences/ lessons while proposing solutions to challenges to inform phase three implementation. The workshop will also provide an opportunity to discuss and share experiences on other key issues such as gender equality in the REDD+ process and communicating results and knowledge developed and propose recommendations to inform future implementation. Lessons will also be shared across other existing mechanisms such as UNREDD, CIF and DGM among others while exploring ways of creating synergies. This is in line with the overall objective of the Project, which aims at designing and implementing a robust regional platform for information exchange and knowledge sharing between CSO networks of the FCPF member countries in Africa.
The workshop will therefore target participants from all the 18 FCPF countries namely; Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Democratic Republic of Congo, Republic of Congo, Cote d’Ivoire, Ethiopia, Gabon, Ghana, Kenya, Liberia, Madagascar, Mozambique, Nigeria, Sudan, Tanzania, Togo and Uganda. Other stakeholders such as key REDD+ focal points from selected countries, UNREDD, Climate Investment Fund, DGM, local and international agencies will also be invited to participate and share their experiences.
